God speaks to millions over a football game

Heres what we talked about at the youth ministry on 1-11-2012

God is still Speaking

That is exciting news friends… He is still speaking!

I want to help you understand how God speaks to us today, because it is important to know how we can talk with God.

Heb 1:1-2
Long ago God spoke to the fathers by the prophets at different times and in different ways. In these last days, He has spoken to us by [His] Son.

When the Bible talks about the Last days, it is referring to a period in time.

The last days references in the Bible refer to the Death of Christ and the defeat of Satan. When Christ died, he defeated Satan on the cross, but Satan is not yet destroyed.

The LAST DAYS is referring to the period of time until Jesus Christ comes back, the here and now.

So Heb 1:2 says that Jesus is talking to us in these last days, the last days meaning right here and right now.

How is Jesus talking to us today???

Through His Word…

John 1:1 says that, “in the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

And then John 1:14 says, “The Word Became Flesh and dwelt among us.”

Now this might sound confusing, and please do not go home and worship your Bible, but lets look at one more scripture to clarify this.

John wrote in His Revelation concerning the return of Jesus Christ
Then I saw heaven opened, and there was a white horse. Its rider is called Faithful and True, and He judges and makes war in righteousness. His eyes were like a fiery flame, and many crowns were on His head. He had a name written that no one knows except Himself. He wore a robe stained with blood, and His name is the Word of God.

So Jesus Christ is God incarnate, He is our savior and Lord, and He is also the Word of God.

This is why it is SOOOO important for us to READ THE BIBLE, if we want a closer relationship with God, and if we want to know what He is saying.

Today I want to talk about how clearly God has spoke to Millions of people over this weekend.

Did anyone catch the Broncos game this Sunday?

I did, I watched just about the whole thing, took my doggy out to go potty, and missed the 80-yard touchdown pass on the first play in overtime.

This pass set two records.
1. Quickest overtime victory in playoff history
2. Longest pass in playoff history

This pass also set up a series of ‘coincidences’ in a way that only God can do.
1. Tim Tebow threw for 316 passing yards
2. He threw ten completions, for an average of 31.6
3. Big Ben threw the only interception on 3rd and 16
4. His final touchdown pass was to Thomas, who was born on Christmas day
5. In the forth quarter, the TV rating for the Game was…. Can you guess… 31.6… hum…

Whether he wins another game ever, God had a plan with that last game.

DO you think it is a coincidence that he threw 316 yards, and averaged 31.6 yards per throw?

No way… Do you have any idea how many people went home and read John 3:16 that day?

I am willing to bet that at least 10 million people, maybe much more than that, went and looked up that verse so far, after watching that last playoff game, when they won on the first play in overtime, setting a playoff record.

In fact in 2009 Tebow wore the verse on his facepaint John 3:16, and according to the beach palm post, 92 million people looked up John 3:16 on that day…

lets read it together shall we

John 3:16
For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.

Jesus is the answer for Tebow, and for the rest of the world.

Jesus is speaking to us guys… He is speaking to everyone in the World, but especially to Americans, through His Word.

92 Million people looked up John 3:16 when Tebow wore it on his facepaint in 2009… that’s Jesus, Speaking to 92 million people in one day!

Why do you think that this verse is so important… For God so loved the world???

Why do you think God would want millions of people to look up that verse?

Because, he wants everyone to come to Him.

Think about the World today…
Everyone thinks the Christians are dumb for waiting on the Lord Jesus Christ to return
People hate Tim Tebow for his love of Jesus Christ

Why doesn’t God just show Himself to us so that we can end all of the debate?

He’s waiting… He waited for me; maybe He’s waiting for you.

God loves us, He is waiting for us, and He wants us all to come to repentance…

God Bless,

Dan Fogarty.
