Truth is hard to hear p.25 Love Wins

Mr. Bell paints a picture of a woman who is crying in church thinking about all of her family members who are in Heaven that she will join when she dies.  Then another woman is crying because the pastor is telling the truth about what happens to people who do not repent as unfortunate as it is.  It is horrible that some people do not go to Heaven and have to endure Hell, but it is true.  So the woman says that if what the pastor says is true (which it probably is) then all of her family is in Hell.  She asks the preacher if her family is in Hell and the pastor says she will have so much fun worshipping the Lord she won’t think about them.  That is not the point.  The point is that if your family members are in Hell they would do anything to tell you about how horrible it is and attempt to warn you and way they could.

Luke 16:19-31 NKJV

“There was a certain rich man who was clothed in purple and fine linen and fared sumptuously every dayThe rich man also died and was buried. And being in torments in Hades, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. “Then he cried and said, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.’ But Abraham said, ‘Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things; but now he is comforted and you are tormented…“Then he said, ‘I beg you therefore, father, that you would send him to my father’s house, for I have five brothers, that he may testify to them, lest they also come to this place of torment.’ Abraham said to him, ‘They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.’ And he said, ‘No, father Abraham; but if one goes to them from the dead, they will repent.’ But he said to him, ‘If they do not hear Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded though one rise from the dead.’ ”

The rich man died and went to Hell.  He asks for a little water and is denied.  The he asks for people to be sent to his home and tell his 5 brothers to turn and repent so that they will not end up in Hades to.  The rich man says that his brothers will not just believe anyone but would believe Lazarus.  Abraham explains that Lazarus cannot go and they will have to believe the prophets of their day.  It is the same today.  Any of our family members and friends would want to warn us any way possible to stay away from that place!  What the pastor should have said to the woman is that if her relatives are not in Heaven they would do anything to warn her about Hell.  They would send anyone they could to her to tell her that yes she should accept Christ and live the rest of her life in pursuit of Jesus.  That is the truth.  We have Scripture that clearly tells us our friends and family members would not want us to join them in Hell.  We also have scripture to tell us that Hell is a literal place and will probably have some of the people we love in it.  That sucks, but it is very true.

It is sad, but if you or me or anyone we know is in Hell they would want to warn about the horror of it.  Mr. Bell says that the Chasm is the mans heart so if his heart would change God would send him to Heaven… this is also against scripture and cannot be proven.

Heb 9:27 ESV And just as it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment

When you die you go to Heaven or Hell forever, love is telling that to people.
